Events & Activities

A charity organisation with purpose.

As much as we focus a lot of our time and work on working with clients one-on-one, we also commit our efforts to organising and partaking in events for those in the community. We've included some past examples of these below.

Menorah Lighting Ceremony (16th December 2025)

We attended a beautiful ceremony which brought members of the community together through a public menorah lighting at Hendon Town Hall on 16 December.

Cooking Club (Jan 2025 ongoing)

At the beginning of 2025, we started our Cooking Club, bringing asylum seekers and refugees together to cook, share stories, and enjoy a sense of community. Through food, conversation, and fun activities, participants have the chance to relax, connect, and feel part of a welcoming group.

Children's Activity Class (Jan 2025 ongoing)

Our Children’s Activity Class ran every Saturday, giving asylum-seeking children living in contingency hotels a joyful space to express their creativity. A huge thank you to the Young Barnet Foundation for the funding to make this possible.

Connect with Barnet (2nd May 2025)

On Friday 2 May, we took part in Connect with Barnet, an event run by Barnet Council in collaboration with local agencies to support asylum seekers and refugees. We hosted a beauty stall offering nail painting, temporary tattoos, and board games, creating a relaxed and welcoming space for people to connect.

Easter (5th April 2025)

We celebrated Easter on the 5th of April by sharing Easter eggs with children living in contingency hotels. It was a simple way to bring some joy to children and families during the holidays.

Eid Al-Fitr (31st March 2025)

On 30 March, we marked Eid Al-Fitr by distributing things such as baklava and Arabic and Iranian leaf tea boxes and shoes to residents living in asylum contingency hotels. This small gesture helped share joy and celebrate an important occasion with asylum seekers.

Nowruz - Persian New Year (21st March 2025)

On 21 March, we celebrated Persian New Year (Nowruz) at Christ Church North Finchley with food, dance, and community spirit. Organised by PAB alongside the church, the event brought together asylum seekers, refugees, and members of the congregation. We were delighted to be joined by Barnet Councillors Zahra Beg and Anne Hutton for this joyful celebration.

International Women's Day (8th March 2025)

In March 2025, we celebrated International Women’s Day in collaboration with Saracens! The day was full of creativity, music, delicious pizza, inspiring talks, and even some pampering. It was a wonderful opportunity for women to come together, have fun, and connect with each other in a welcoming space.

Barnet Community Awards

We were incredibly grateful to have been nominated for one of the 2024 Barnet Community Awards. This nomination meant so much to us, as it reflected the impact of our work in the community and the continued support of those who believed in our mission. We were proud to stand among so many outstanding local groups.

Christmas Party (16th December)

Holiday magic at our Christmas party. And a massive thank you to the Young Barnet Foundation for making the day extra special with gifts for the children, helping us spread the festive joy.

Halloween (31st October)

Spooky fun at our Halloween movie night! Kids enjoyed scary masks, sweet treats, and lots of chocolate as we celebrated together.

Childrens Summer Project (24th July)

Throughout the summer project, children took part in creative outdoor activities such as chalk drawing, arts and crafts, and other hands-on sessions

Refugee Week (17th-23rd June)

Our Refugee Week celebrations on the 21st June at Christ Church North Finchley brought the community together through talks, children’s performances, shared food, and a strong sense of community spirit.

Cooking Project (12th June)

Our cooking class on the 12th June allowed refugees to come together to cook authentic meals from their home countries. This allowed for a celebration of culture and community through food.

Visit to a Boxing Match (6th June)

With the support of Work Work, an organisation also assisting at the contingency hotels, we were able to take some of the children to watch a boxing match. It was an exciting and fun-filled day for everyone!

Eid Celebrations (10th April)

To celebrate Eid, we shared festive treats such as tea, pastries, and sugar crystals with residents in both hotels. This helped mark Eid as a day of celebration and shared joy amongst the populations within these hotels.

Easter (31st March)

For Easter, we gave out Easter eggs and essential toiletries to residents in the hotels

International Women's Day (8th March)

For International Women’s Day, we hosted talks from inspiring speakers, shared pastries and makeup products, and celebrated the day by enjoying each other’s company.

Half Term Activities (12-17th February)

During half term, the kids enjoyed a variety of fun and educational activities, including visits to a museum, trips to the cinema, outings to play table tennis and arts and crafts days.
